{"id":2038,"date":"2013-08-15T16:37:58","date_gmt":"2013-08-15T15:37:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.danielebesana.com\/blog\/?p=2038"},"modified":"2014-03-21T18:10:57","modified_gmt":"2014-03-21T17:10:57","slug":"baltic-cycling-tour-5-kuldiga-sabile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danielebesana.com\/blog\/life\/travels\/baltic-cycling-tour-5-kuldiga-sabile","title":{"rendered":"Baltic Cycling Tour #5: from Kuldiga to Sabile"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><center><iframe src=\"https:\/\/connect.garmin.com:80\/activity\/embed\/358127891\" height=\"548\" width=\"465\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/center>When we left Kuldiga in the mid-morning, our plan was to reach Riga in the evening.<\/p>\n<p>Our plan was to cycle till Kandava and then hop on a train, but we struggled to reach Sabile due to the uphills in that hilly part of Latvia.<br \/>\nSabile is home of the northest (more north in latitude) vineyards of the World, so we had a nice launch with delicious friend minced meat (like in the other places in Latvia, presented extremely well) and a bottle of the local liquid.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 400px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-r8XjEwYWc2o\/UgvS4YR544I\/AAAAAAAAGzA\/nBxeN_hHjZs\/s0\/IMG_3555.JPG\"  rel=\"lightbox[2038] post-\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"IMG_3555.JPG\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-r8XjEwYWc2o\/UgvS4YR544I\/AAAAAAAAGzA\/nBxeN_hHjZs\/w400-o\/IMG_3555.JPG\" width=\"400\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tasty food &amp; sweet wine<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It was a very sweet apple wine, that remembered me of the &#8220;vin di p\u00f3m&#8221; that my aunts drink at Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>So we decided to stop for a night in Sabile and enjoy a wine tasting.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately all the wines produced in this region are extremely sweets: apples, blueberries, strawberries, peaches are the base for the production. Too much sugar for my taste.<\/p>\n<p>But once again Latvians proved to be very creative in terms of accommodations, in fact we checked-in in an ex hospital!<\/p>\n<p>since 3 years the building has been converted in a hostel, but the rooms still have signs from their previous usage.
