On a personal level, July has been a terrible month for me. I spent the whole month in Italy, close to my family, because a dear aunt got really sick.
\nBeing able to stay close to her and to the people I love was the best thing I could do, and made me realize how lucky and free I am with my online work.<\/p>\n

Below the report of this tough month.<\/p>\n

What’s going on<\/h2>\n

The launch of WP Tube 5.0 theme<\/h3>\n

In May\u00a0I bought a website selling a WordPress Theme:\u00a0freeWPtube.com<\/a>\u00a0It’s a theme that allows to create video websites based on WordPress.
\nLast month I first hired a developer to create a new, better version of the theme, and then got involved directly in the development because I was unhappy with the results.<\/p>\n

At this point I was facing a business\u00a0decision: keep WP Tube a free theme or\u00a0sell it as Premium?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The theme has been free of charge so far, and the previous owner was making some money with additional products, such as\u00a0hosting commissions and link removal.
\nThis didn’t seem very effective so I wanted to sell the new version as Premium theme.
\nBut… even in the domain name, there’s the word\u00a0free<\/em>\u00a0and in June I built a newsletter with ~50 subscribers waiting for the new version to be released.<\/p>\n

After some thoughts, I decided to leave WP Tube 4 available as a free theme, and release WP Tube 5 as Premium.
\nI also decided to\u00a0offer it for free to the existing newsletter subscribers, that were diligently waiting for the news.<\/p>\n

I offered two version: the standard version for 19$ and a version link-free (without links in the footer) for 29$.<\/p>\n

I was a bit worried… what if\u00a0people don’t like my move? will\u00a0someone spend money to buy my new theme? will my theme be good enough?<\/p>\n

I recorded two videos explaining the new features, wrote the newsletter text and officially released version 5.<\/p>\n

Few minutes after, the first newsletter subscribers started downloading their free copy. They were really waiting for it \ud83d\ude42
\nBut what’s more exciting is that two hours after, the first sale came in!!
\nThey were the most joyous 29$ I ever earn.<\/p>\n

After that, I total 6 sales, not bad considering that I released it the 18th July.<\/p>\n

I’m thrilled to see how things will evolve in August, a month that is part of the vacation season in the Western world.<\/p>\n

Results from the new sale page in ComoHacer<\/h3>\n

Last month I hired\u00a0Rocco<\/a>\u00a0via oDesk to rethink the sale page of my Spanish DIY blog. This blog came with an e-book with all the articles in an easy to read and print format and I believe this is an untapped source of income.<\/p>\n

I spent too much time implementing the page so I only started pushing real traffic towards the end of the month. The result wasn’t that impressive:<\/p>\n

I got just 2 sales over ~400 pageviews. This\u00a0means a conversion rate of ~0.5% <\/strong>\ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

Dear Rocco, this is not what I wanted considering I paid you 150\u20ac!
\nI have to rethink all the sale page now and try something new.
\nPeople love this website and are clicking on the banners to know more about the e-book. What’s stopping them from buying, I don’t know.
\nI’ll test different prices and different sale pages…<\/p>\n

C\u00f3mo comprar casa en Holanda<\/h3>\n

In June I got my\u00a0article ‘how to buy a house in the Netherlands’\u00a0translated\u00a0to Spanish.
\nAt the time I wrote my last income report, the article\u00a0C\u00f3mo comprar casa en Holanda<\/a>\u00a0was ranking<\/strong>\u00a0#1 on page 2<\/strong>\u00a0of Google Spain…. today, my post happily\u00a0ranks #6 on page 1<\/strong> of Google Spain!<\/p>\n

The traffic on the page is still low (~40 pageviews in July) but as explained\u00a0in this article<\/a>, now that the post is on page 1 every step up will grow the traffic\u00a0exponentially.<\/p>\n
