It&#8217;s the only place in Colombia where I had to wear a jacket!<\/li>\n<li>The <em>rolo<\/em>, this is the nickname for people from the capital, don&#8217;t have the beautiful Colombian attitude I found elsewhere<\/li>\n<li>The Candelaria area, recommended for backpackers, was full of very insisting beggers that made me feel unsecure at times<\/li>\n<li>The bus system is complex, aggravated by the fact that I got spoiled by the ease of Medellin unique Metro system<\/li>\n<li>it&#8217;s more expensive, that means <em>less cheap<\/em> than the other Colombian cities (always a good reason for backpackers to complain, I had learn)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Did I have a bad time in Bogota&#8217;?<br \/>\nNo way! I had good experiences (first CouchSurfing host) and enjoyed something different than in the previous destinations (the hostel lifestyle I ditched so far) \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>My first CouchSurfing host<\/h3>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Inge's place with a bad CSer\" href=\"https:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/-YTBo4p342M0\/TiCiDDxwUEI\/AAAAAAAACSQ\/BKQeNvrTWuQ\/IMG_1399.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[479]\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Inge's place with a bad CSer\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/-YTBo4p342M0\/TiCiDDxwUEI\/AAAAAAAACSQ\/BKQeNvrTWuQ\/s150-c\/IMG_1399.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1399.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Inge&#8217;s place with a bad CSer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a title=\"Couchsurfing in Colombia\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salsawalkabout.com\/2011\/08\/23\/couchsurfing-in-colombia\/\" target=\"_blank\">How and why CouchSurfing is great in Colombia, I&#8217;ve already talk about<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After more than a month in Latin America my level of\u00a0 Spanish made me feel comfortale enough to try my first CouchSurfing experience, so I looked for a host in Bogota&#8217;.<br \/>\nThe day after I sent few, selected requests (mainly girls with &#8220;SALSA&#8221; keyword in their profiles), I got a positive answer from Inga.<\/p>\n<p>She has been a fantastic host: funny, active, creative and also dramatic girl.<br \/>\nAnd of course Salsa-holic \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>She hosted me in the sofa&#8217; of her cool apartment in a nice residential area of the city, and took me out with her friends (many other CouchSurfers) for a b-day party on Friday, and to Salsa dance on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>After 2 days spent talking in my broken Spanish about pretty much *everything*, imagine my surprise when she picked up a phone call and started talking in perfect English!!<\/p>\n<p>Well, good practice for me and good fun too.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve learn lot of espressions like <em>&#8220;es una chimba!&#8221;<\/em> (something like &#8220;very cool!&#8221;) and <em>&#8220;genial!&#8221;<\/em> (same meaning).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Hostel lifestyle<\/h3>\n<p>I left Inga after the weekend, to continue discovering Bogota&#8217; from an hostel.<\/p>\n<p>10 minutes after I checked-in at Platypus hostel, I thought I arrived to a madhouse.<br \/>\nThe first 3 people I met were far from this World. But it wasn&#8217;t a party hostel, so I didn&#8217;t run away like I did in Medellin.<\/p>\n<p>It ended up that we form a great group and visited the city together, like good tourists.<\/p>\n<p>Here the best things I saw in Bogot\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Bogot\u00e1 bike tour<\/h4>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a class=\"thickbox\" title=\"IMG_1471.jpg\" href=\"https:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-BI98TT7CII8\/TiCltn1HGEI\/AAAAAAAACZ0\/TJqtpaqUG_k\/IMG_1471.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[479]\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"IMG_1471.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-BI98TT7CII8\/TiCltn1HGEI\/AAAAAAAACZ0\/TJqtpaqUG_k\/s150-c\/IMG_1471.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1471.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fruit taste at palo chemao<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I recommend anyone visiting Bogot\u00e1 to go for it.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bogotabiketours.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">This tour <\/a>is run by the friendly and interesting Mike, an American (ex?) jurnalist with a real passion for this city.<br \/>\nA city where the bike culture is so big that each Sunday morning the main streets are closed to cars.<\/p>\n<p>In 5 hours of easy-riding (don&#8217;t worry about the red lights and cycling in the sidewalks or in the wrong ways, it&#8217;s part of your Colombian experience) I saw places I would not even think about going to visit.<\/p>\n<p>Beside some of the most important sights, Mike took us to interesting destinations like the market of <em>palo chemao<\/em>, where he let us try all the Colombian fruits we don&#8217;t have oversea&#8230;
