{"id":629,"date":"2011-11-22T03:19:33","date_gmt":"2011-11-22T01:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.danielebesana.com\/blog\/?p=629"},"modified":"2011-11-22T03:20:42","modified_gmt":"2011-11-22T01:20:42","slug":"coincidences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/danielebesana.com\/blog\/life\/coincidences","title":{"rendered":"Coincidences?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Do you believe in coincidences?<\/p>\n<p>In 30+ years here around planet Earth I came across situations so difficult to explain that I started feeling like an actor on stage in some absurd comedy.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m sure you know that feeling too.<\/p>\n<p>Here some examples of what we call coincidences, stories involving unexpected encounters.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Montevecchia<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/montevecchia.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[629]\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-638\" title=\"montevecchia\" src=\"https:\/\/www.danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/montevecchia-e1321922725349.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"299\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a>I spent my early teenager years cycling around trees and riversides in green Brianza, the Italian area where I&#8217;m originally from.<br \/>\nMy friend Biom and me spent countless hours cycling on the road and off-road alike, before we turned 14 and got inevitably hooked with 50cc moppets and motocross motorbikes.<\/p>\n<p>One Saturday we cycled to Montevecchia, a hill that for us was as far and exotic as\u00a0Ko\u00a0Phi Phi can be now,\u00a0looking to challenge the 20% uphill narrow road that goes straight up to the top.<br \/>\nOnce on top we could enjoy a fantastic view over Brianza, rest our broken legs and taste some of the Montevecchia typical goat cheese, even if my cynical friend AC observed once &#8211; there are no goats as far as you can see from the top.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/PhKC2GhMJ9w\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After this\u00a0apotheosis, we run downhill on the other side, of what for us was a mountain, passing through a forest with no paved roads available.<br \/>\nNot without difficulties we ended up at the bottom, but lost in the middle of\u00a0wineries in a place completely foreign to us.<br \/>\nWith no idea whatsoever about how to get back home from there, beside indeed going up the hill again, the one bright idea we had was to ask someone.<br \/>\nIf only we could see, someone!<\/p>\n<p>Far far away there was a lonely farm, and a man working on a field.<br \/>\nWe cycled there to approach him and asked, thinking of doing something funny, if he knew where our far village, Albiate, was.<br \/>\nIt turned out that this man knew very well were Albiate was.<br \/>\nHe had some kind of relatives living there.<br \/>\nThe relatives had a bar selling newspapers.<br \/>\nWell, the family owning that bar was my grandfather family.<br \/>\nEventually, this man was a remote uncle!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Club Candela<\/h2>\n<p>The biggest celebration in Holland is Queen&#8217;s Day on the 30th April.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a crazy night and a crazy day where everyone goes in the street and drinks as much as possible, trying to sell all sort of crap you can (not) imagine.<br \/>\nAnd doesn&#8217;t really matter that this is the birthday of the previous Queen and not the current one, because the current one born on a cold day of January and that&#8217;s no good for party.<\/p>\n<p>Amsterdam at Queen&#8217;s Day is like New Delhi on a normal day (according to people that have been to New Delhi).<br \/>\nThe amount \u00a0of people in the streets is unbelievable, they come from everywhere,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0090605\/quotes\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;they&#8217;re coming outta the walls. They&#8217;re coming outta the goddamn walls.\u00a0&#8220;, as Hudson says in Aliens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/q-day.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[629]\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-641 aligncenter\" title=\"q-day\" src=\"https:\/\/www.danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/q-day.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/q-day.jpg 500w, https:\/\/danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/q-day-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/danielebesana.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/q-day-450x300.jpg 450w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You wanna meet someone in A&#8217;dam at Queen&#8217;s Day? Can be real difficult, everything is packed.<\/p>\n<p>Last years I met with few friends on Leidseplein, and then I was texting our friend Mouw that was on a different part of the city called Jordaan.<br \/>\nAfter some SMSs like <em>&#8220;are you joining here?&#8221; &#8220;no I&#8217;m there&#8221; &#8220;OK let&#8217;s talk later&#8221;<\/em> etc. etc., unexpectedly someone proposed to go to Club Candela, a terrible Latin place with a vague crowd of troubled souls, basically like any other place around Leidseplein.<br \/>\nWe enter this hellish club and after few minutes ta-daaaa, Mouw appeared out of the blue!<br \/>\nI think it would have never had worked out if we made an appointment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Salsoring in Dubai<\/h2>\n<p>Last year I visited for work United Emirates.<br \/>\nI was bored of the shopping lifestyle of Dubai (pronounced DO-BUY) so I\u00a0took advantaged of the weekend to check out some Salsa places recommended by my friend Stui.<\/p>\n<p>After a very long taxi ride with a driver that was trying to convince me to go directly with prostitutes avoiding Salsa, I was left in front of this Savage Garden club all alone.<br \/>\nAfter I took care of the formalities like pay 100 Dirham \u00a0to the bouncer and get rid of the jacket, I enter the dance room with the usual thrill of excitement I have when I&#8217;m in a place I never been before and I absolutely know nobody.<\/p>\n<p>With the corner of my eye I see a girl walking up the stairs that remembered me someone I know &#8211;
